New to objkt - Yomu Yakadashi

We are discussing today with Yomu who minted his first piece on objkt. His work is deeply influenced by anime and aims to present tales and stories from Japanese culture through his unique perspective.

“My name is Matheus, I'm 27 years old, and I'm currently based in São Paulo, Brazil. The pseudonym is part of my identity and helps immerse myself in Japanese culture.”

Balancing a dual career, Matheus divides his time between working as a psychologist and professor and pursuing his passion for digital art.

His background in Psychology, with several specializations including art therapy, enables him to assist people through various forms of artistic expression. “I currently split my days into two parts: part-time as a Psychologist/Professor and part-time as a digital artist.”

As a native of Brazil, Matheus has a deep appreciation for his country’s cultural diversity, gastronomy, and vibrant lifestyle. "I've visited many countries, and I feel comfortable saying that in terms of cultural diversity, gastronomy, and fun, Brazil is in the top 5!" he states. While he acknowledges the challenges the country faces, particularly in terms of security and politics, Matheus remains optimistic about Brazil’s potential and future.

While this rich cultural backdrop is part of his identity, the most significant influence on his art has always been his early love for anime.

“I've always drawn, ever since I was a child, influenced by anime. I remember doodling in my notebooks during class, getting lost in a world of my own and thinking about stories to tell. It was fun, but I have to admit it did distract me from schoolwork!”

Akira

This passion for anime only grew stronger over time. “I've been watching anime for as long as I can remember. The first ones to become easily accessible in Brazil were Samurai X, HxH, Dragon Ball, and Saint Seiya." "I can confidently say that Saint Seiya is my favorite, and without a doubt, it has influenced me and continues to do so to this day—after all, Masami Kurumada is a true genius.”

To bring his visions to life, Matheus has developed a unique approach to his art, blending traditional and modern technique: “I currently work with mixed media, combining 2D/collage with AI.”

Matheus explains his process, noting the flexibility that AI offers: “When I think about a piece created with AI, I see it as a tool that allows artists to produce much faster while still maintaining their essence, style, and workflow, saving time and improving their quality of life”.

Shitsuyōna Fukushū 執

“Many approaches can be applied, such as creating an initial piece with a prompt in MJ and then refining it in a drawing or editing software like Krita. In Krita, I often recreate the piece from scratch, making any necessary background changes or collaging elements from other artwork.”

He also enjoys incorporating a nostalgic touch into his work: “I also enjoy using techniques, filters, and brushes that give a vintage feel, reminiscent of my nostalgia for the 90s.”

Among the many pieces he’s created, one stands out not for its impact and significance in his artistic journey. “If I have to choose one, I'd go with "Cherry Blossom: The Dark Side," produced in 2023."

Cherry Blossom: The Dark Side

"It was one of the first to go viral and helped boost my presence in the web3 space. It was also one of the first to break out of the bubble and consistently appear on the first pages of searches like Pinterest.”

Looking ahead, Matheus is channeling his creativity into his next major project: “It's a challenging time for digital art, but I see that, as always, Objkt and XTZ are at the forefront of NFT art."

"So, my next piece will focus on that—probably a 1/1, something special and meaningful to me. I'm planning to have it ready by the third or fourth week of August.”

Matheus also has physical items for sale such as t-shirts and prints. Visit his store here.

Burning Illusions 幻想, his new piece on objkt

In his artistic journey, Matheus draws inspiration from fellow artists who have significantly influenced his approach.

“A great friend brought me here, Alex Benedith. He has an insane production technique, and all his pieces have a unique identity, making him one of a kind in terms of style.”

In addition to these influences, Matheus is also grateful for the support of collectors who have played a pivotal role in his career. “Not just a collector, but also a curator of major projects and a GREAT friend. OlesyaBargo is a blessing in my life and the lives of many other artists here." "Since we met, without asking for anything in return, she has helped and guided me in many ways, opening up new opportunities and making me see things that once seemed impossible. So, all my gratitude to her!”
